An entire town history, of Norways oldest town, packed into a single room! An extra challenge was that no cabinets could stand on the floor due to vibrations, so cabinets and screens were wall mounted, while the valuable floor real estate was given over to a medieval map of the town, orientated to true North, including a 'you are here' point. The towns major geographical features were represented as cartoony climb on sofas.
The exhibition was essentially a chronology from the stone age to the present, so time was represented as a beam of light that tied the diverse artefacts together, and gave the viewer a immediate sense of where they were in time.
